I was living in Nelson in New Zealand. I had a work permit for two years to teach in a school there. I felt lonely and missed my family plus my friends. Most of all I wanted to find a boyfriend. So I looked in the telephone directory at dating sites. One of the dating sites was in Christchurch. I rang up the dating site and it said they had members all over the South Island. Therefore it was the most suitable of the dating sites for me. As dating sites go I think it was fine. They had an Internet site with men's profiles on it.

I got a photo of a man in his late twenties in an email. He lived in Grey Mouth and we corresponded every couple of days on the net. I liked him and thought we had a lot in common. He also liked cats. I missed my mum' cats so very much. He sent me a photo of his lovely little cat. We arranged to meet up in Nelson. We drove me to the start of the Able Tasman Walkway. We enjoyed a walk along the really picturesque coastline. We held hands and kissed under a bushy tree. The next weekend I visited him in Grey Mouth. We took me on a stunning train ride into the mountains. Our third date was a picnic by the waterfront in Nelson. We carried on dating for the next four months.

It was bitter disappointment when he dumped me for a new employee at his work. She was younger than me and she had blond hair. I wouldn't touch another dating site again after that liaison had ended in tears. I went on holiday to Samoa to get over my heart break.

I felt so much happier when I arrived in the tropical island that looked like paradise. I stayed in a little guest house overlooking the marine reserve. That evening I got chatting to Philip a French guy from Paris. He asked me if I wanted to go out snorkeling with him the next day. We saw colourful coral and friendly fish of all different sizes. Wow!

That evening we sat on the balcony and shared a kiss on the lips. He took me out in his hire car and we went to watch an exciting fire dance. He spent ages in my room that evening gently caressing my neck. We cuddled up together all night and it felt so magical.

I next day Philip had to fly back to Paris. I was sad to leave our brief encounter. I had to spend the next week alone. I found a tiny little island to stay on for complete relaxation. When I got home I looked at my emails at Auckland Airport whilst waiting for my flight down to Nelson. I was so happy to see an email from Philip. He said that he had really enjoyed our brief encounter in Samoa.
